R34 – Participatory design of clinical decision support tools for problem solving therapy

This study will partner with the University of Washington Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP).

Several recent studies have found that for evidence-based psychosocial interventions (EBPIs) to be delivered more effectively, sustained quality, ongoing supervision, and guidance is critical.

This study will develop an electronic support tool to support quality delivery of PST that is based on clinician feedback. We hypothesize that supporting clinician delivery of EBPIs will result in enhanced quality of treatment and better patient outcomes.

Phases of the study:

DISCOVER

This will involve qualitative interviews with primary care clinicians to uncover challenges in delivering EBPIs.

DESIGN AND BUILD

We’ll develop clinician support tool that is designed to support quality delivery of EBPIs.

TEST

A small, randomized, and controlled trial will test the quality support tool among a group of clinicians who are patients.
