ALACRITY investigators and affiliates enjoy mentoring on career development awards and advising or collaborating on projects.

To identify potential mentors or collaborators, we suggest reviewing our team pages (core team, leadership team, and principal investigators) as well as reviewing projects that may be closely aligned in goals or methods.

If you identify potential mentors, we recommend reaching out directly by email. When reaching out,

  • If you identify multiple possible mentors, please either reach out to everyone at once on the same email or reach out to your top choice(s) first. When investigators reach out to several possible ALACRITY mentors in parallel using separate messages, this often creates confusion as we often network among ourselves to help make matches and see who has capacity.
  • Please share what you know about your proposal so far: submission date, length of the award (or mentorship), specific asks, and, if you have it, an aims page or project summary. It is okay if you don’t know for some of these categories, but it helps to know what you know.
  • If you have reached out to others and they have declined because of capacity or fit, please let us know that, too. Otherwise, we may suggest people you have already contacted.
  • If you don’t receive a reply within a week (or an out-of-office that indicates it will be longer), it is okay to follow up! Email often gets buried.

If you are unsure of possible mentors, you can email alacrity@uw.edu (please include the same information as above) and we will discuss in a center meeting to see if we can identify possible matches. The center team meets weekly (except holidays and special events), so please anticipate 1-2 weeks for a follow-up.
